Below is a listing of free programs designed for high school students to explore different career opportunities and see how DeVry University can help them to meet their educational and career goals.

Courses for College Credit

DeVry University Advantage Academy
September

DeVry University in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools presents a dual enrollment high school. DUAA provides qualified students with the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate degree in Network Systems Administration or Web Graphic Design. This opportunity is open to qualified Chicago Public School students who complete their sophomore year by June 2010.

To be eligible to apply to the DeVry University Advantage Academy High School, applicants must be:

  • Chicago Public School students who
    • will have completed required 9th and 10th grade
    • courses by Summer 2010
  • Students with a minimum cumulative grade point
    • average 2.5/4.0
  • Students with a high attendance rate (90%)

Passport 2 College
July-August

A college education is essential in today's high tech, fast paced world.  Our college courses are a great first step toward achieving ths goal.  If you want to get ahead of your peers - and stay ahead - Devry University's Passport 2 College (P2C) is designed for you.

The "Passport 2 College is a "tuition waved" program offered by DeVry University for high school students to earn college credit in business and technology courss during the summer. Passport 2 College is open to all qualifying high school students.  The only cost to the student is for books and supplies.

A workshop designed to provide sophomores through seniors an understanding of the basic principles of finance and managed accounting.  Explore accounting through hands-on activitiew and interactions with accounting educators. Lunch provided.

Business Advantage Boot Camp
Saturday Series

A series of four 3-hour sessions designed to provide hands-on experience to high school sophomores to seniors and educators interested in exploring business careers.  Students will learn about organizational structure, creating a business plan, business finance, project management and marketing.  Finale includes lunch.

Electronics for Robotics

Experience the thrill of Electronics through Robotics.  Students will learn hands-on electri fundamentals, practical physics and programming as it applies to the creation of Robotics.  See demonstrations of robotics and work in teams to create you own mini robotic device.  Session is open to current juniors and seniors and educators.  Space is limited.  Lunch provided.

T:ec - Target Electronics Careers
Saturday Series

DeVry's Electronics program is based on the fundamentsls of the technology driving today's systems.  T:ec is a series of 4-hour sessions designed to provide hands-on experiene to high school students interested in exploring opportunities in electronics careers.  Program open to qualified sophomore through senio students and educators.  Explore basic electroics, telecommunications, biomedical technology and controls and instrumenttion in hnds-on sessions.  Finale includes lunch.

netbuilders

netbuilders is a six-day summer scholars program that focuses on technology , career awareness and business skills.  Up to 5 students and 1 educator per high school may attend.  qualified high schools students entering their sophomore to senior year will experience technology by exploring the internet and learning to create a high school web site.  Professional skills are enhanced by learning and applying presentation skills.  Lunch is provided at finale event.
