These are questions that we usually receive from students and professors. They are divided into different categories. Be sure to browse around, you might find the answer you are looking for. If there is a question you need to ask that is not listed here please do not hesitate to stop by the Help Desk or call (773) 697-2411.
Q: I am a new student at DeVry University and I have never logged in before, what do I do?
A: All new students should have an account to log in to the computers in any of the labs. Please come to room 1114A (Help Desk) to have a Help Desk technician verify if you have an account. You will need an ID and a copy of your school schedule, which you can get from the Student Central office (SAC 204).
Q: What happens if I forget my password to login to the system?
A: You can always come to the Help Desk and we can reset your account. Please do not forget to bring an ID to prove your identification.
Q: I have never logged into the portal before, how do I get there and how do I log in?
A: You can reach the portal by clicking on its link on the left side of our homepage. You can also reach it directly by typing https://my.devry.edu/ into your address bar. Your username is your full DSI number. Ex: D00000000 and your password, if you have not changed it should be your birth year followed by the two-digit month. Ex. 197912
Q: I have never logged into ECollege before, how do I get there and how do I log in?
A: You can reach eCollege by clicking on its link on the left side of our homepage. You can also reach it directly by typing http://www.devryu.net/ into your address bar. Q: How do I get to DeVry's Ilab and how would I login?
A: You can reach Ilabs by typing http://lab.devry.edu into your address bar. Once there, your login is your DSI# and your password will be the same password you use to login to the computers in the lab.
Q: To read my ebooks for class, I heard we need Myscribe. What is it and how do I get it?
Q: I have a couple financial questions; can the Help Desk answer those for me?
A: For any financial questions you can stop by our Student Central department, room 204 in the SAC building.
Q: I need to buy electronic parts for my project, where do I go and how much?
A: First you will need to stop by Student Central and purchase a parts card, it is $6.00. You can then bring this card over to the Help Desk in the TEC 120; here you can purchase various parts ranging from cables to chips.
Q: I am looking to be tutored; does the Help Desk take care of this?
A: We do not, we can only provide technical support, but you can go to the Tutoring Center, room 205A in the TEC building. There, they can take care of your tutoring needs.
Q: What is a software bundle and how can I get it?
A: Almost all students can qualify to receive a DeVry Software bundle. These bundles contain various software such as Microsoft Windows 7, Visual Studio, and Office 2007. Some of the software is ordered online and it is mailed to your home. You also have the option of downloading the software for free. For more information on the bundle and software downloads, please call 1-800-642-7676 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can directly log in and order by going to your eCollege shell. Bundle and software information is now there.
Q: I am an instructor. Am I eligible to receive the bundle?
A: If you are a full-time or part-time faculty member (adjunct faculty is NOT eligible), then you will be able to order or download software from eCollege.
Q: I have a laptop that needs to connect to the internet; does DeVry University offer a wireless set-up? How much does it cost?
A: Yes we do have a wireless network you can use. Simply scan for a wireless network and connect to CHI_Student. Open up an internet browser and you will then have to login to the network using your DSI# and network password. Once you login, our wireless system will scan your laptop to make sure your Firewall is on and that you do not have any Peer to Peer software installed. If any of these prerequisites are not fulfilled, you will not be able to login.
Q: My laptop is having several issues, what can I do?
A: If your laptop is a DeVry University laptop, you can bring it in and we can troubleshoot the issues on your machine. We can only provide limited assistance with personal laptops (such as helping with the wireless network.
Q: I had connected to the wireless system at DeVry University and it was working, but now that I am at home, it does not work. What is going on?
A: Our wireless network does not extend outside of the campus. You will be able to receive our signal if you are in the SAC building or the TEC building.
Q: How do I set up my DeVry University email account?
A: First log into your portal, then click on the link below and it will take you through the step by step process in making an account.
Q: I am using Outlook 2003/2007 and would like to change my reading pane from the side to the bottom, how can I do that?
A: If you have your outlook open, click on View on your top toolbar. On the drop down you will see the reading pane option, there you can switch your reading pane's view.
